Home Office•Office Ideas

My Chic & Cozy Home Office Nook

Hello friends. If you have been following my office journey here on the blog, then you will have noticed I am no longer in my old office space. I had an entire room to work with there, and you can check that out here, and here.

I actually found the corner office nook more fun to style and design, probably because it is more challenging, and I have always loved a good design dilemma, where you have to incorporate both function and aesthetic, and when you achieve that, oh that is true bliss to me!

So here in my smaller office nook, I had to take stock of everything I already owned, and then look at my new office space with fresh eyes.  I did not try to cram everything from my old office into my new one. That is a big mistake!

I did make a list of what I would need, and here’s what I came up with as my essentials or “must-haves”:

  • A desk with drawers and a filing cabinet
  • A comfortable chair
  • A printer
  • A desk accessory tray
  • A file sorter
  • 1-2 magazine file holders
  • Accent seating
  • An area rug
  • A shelf for some decor and storage
  • Florals and a few decorative accents for the desk and wall space
  • A bulletin board for my printable calendar and motivational quotes

Use this list,

or download your free printable checklist here.

So working with this list, I was able to make clear decisions about which items I would bring into this space, and which would go into storage. If I hadn’t done this, my cozy and chic office nook would have looked crammed and suffocating instead!

Alright, so let’s get to it! Here’s a closer look at my chic and cozy blush home office nook:

As you can see, I have just the right amount of furniture and decor, so the space feels just right. And as you may recall from my previous posts,  I need my office space to feel pretty and light, so that whenever I enter this space, I immediately feel inspired and at ease. I definitely achieved that here!

I love and appreciate all of the beautiful natural light that pours in this space. That is precisely why I positioned things the way I did. I like having my desk up against or near the window if possible. I was fortunate that the window sill is the perfect size to house some of desk and office accessories that previously had homes on my large bookshelf and printer table.

It’s really important to me that I have some sort of additional seating in my office space, for two reasons:

  1.  I like to have a cozier, and informal place to sit where I can journal and sip my coffee
  2. I like to have  a place to sit when I take a break from working or blogging, and am still in the office. I often read or chat on the phone here.

For additional accent seating, you may opt for a bench like mine, or, you may want an armchair instead. I already owned this bench, so I used it (and I still absolutely love it!). However, a fabulous armchair would have also worked perfectly in this corner, and it would have met both  my requirements for additional seating. I likely would also add a foot stool or ottoman to the armchair to fully achieve the cozy and informal feel to that corner of the office.

Check out some footstools and ottomans here.

This cart I have is perfect for housing all of my notepads, clipboards, and coffee table books. I opted to store those here in decorative bins so that I achieved both function and style here.

Shop my coffee table books here.

The best part about this cart is that I can change up the decor to suit the season.  I plan on changing it for fall very soon!

This cart is an Ikea Sunnersta cart, and I spray painted the gold parts myself. As you can see, it is starting to scratch, but I actually like how it appears more rustic this way, so I’ve left it as is! 😀

I have linked everything from my original office in this post.

Some people will tell you that you don’t need an area rug, especially since there is already carpet in this room. So that is your choice lovely. However, I am going to tell you why I love having a luxurious and beautiful area rug in my cute little office nook.

As seen above, I like to sprawl myself on the carpet and do my organizing here!

I also take my online workout appointments here, as well as do my morning stretches and a few yoga poses once in a while!

I absolutely love having this gorgeous rug here because it anchors my office space. It creates a divider, and better yet a boundary of where my office space begins, and where the kids’ area ends. My kids know not to play on my pretty white rug, and they don’t even try to anymore!

Lastly, I truly feel like it sets the tone of my office, that is one of luxury and tranquility, and that is wonderful in my book!

The fun doesn’t stop there! I love everything to be visually pleasing, so that carried over to my desk drawers. I appreciate how when I open my drawers, things are clean, organized, and most importantly, on point with my colour scheme!

Shop my desk accessories here.

My desk is my haven. It is my go to place when I have a bright idea, or when I just need to write. I feel inspired here and like my true self here. Designing a home office that makes you feel like you are already the best version of yourself is priceless. I am so grateful I chose to give myself this space. I hope you choose do that for yourself too. Please don’t be shy if you have any questions about my office, or need some help with setting up your own. I love to help!

Until next time,

Work on calming, soothing, loving the inside first, then allow your life to follow 💕✨.
It’s not always about the next thing, it’s not It’s not always about the next thing, it’s not always about the end result.
You can be happy with where you are while still working towards more.
In fact, appreciating what’s already worked out for you is what will take you toward your desired outcomes even more quickly.
What we take for granted now is what we were once striving for.
That matters. That counts. Use the momentum of that as you move forward. Appreciate what’s already yours. How much you already have. And more and more will continue to flow into you. That is abundance. It’s a mindset not a destination.
Love is in unlimited supply, within you. You are t Love is in unlimited supply, within you. You are the source of that love. Find it within you, it’s there, always has been, always will be. Let it fill you up, allow it to make you whole. Then share the overflow of that love, that feeling, with others. Other people are not the source of your wholeness or self worth. They can never fill the void you feel. Only you can. You’re supposed to discover this in this lifetime, you’re meant to discover that everything you need is already inside of you. And that your self worth lies not only in recognizing and owning that, but also in how much value your heart and soul carry for others on this earth. You have value, you can make an impact, you already are. Time to start seeing that lovely 💕.

In this episode, I talk about understanding you have value and learning how the different parts of you have value as well. Learning to understand your emotions and see them as important is the key to knowing your worth.

Don’t overlook your progress, It’s the key to Don’t overlook your progress,
It’s the key to feeling good about yourself,
And to continue improving.

Don’t minimize what you’ve overcome.
You’ve moved mountains you once ran from.
You’ve reached peaks you once only dreamed of.

Take the time to recognize that you’ve done that.

It matters.

You matter.

What you’ve experienced matters.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Only you know your lived experience,

Only you can validate and acknowledge yourself.

That’s what matters most.

How you see yourself.

Not how anyone else sees you.

Stop seeing yourself through the eyes of others.

Start seeing yourself through the eyes of source.

You are worthy and deserving.

Be willing to see that.

Be willing to let that perspective in ✨.
Listening to your fears is not the same as listeni Listening to your fears is not the same as listening to your intuition.
You may mistakenly believe you’ve been listening to yourself, because you’ve been following the directives of that voice inside of you.
However fear also has a voice. And it’s strong and loud. Listening to it will leave you feeling shaky and scared, maybe relieved and in control temporarily, but only if you’re micromanaging every little thing in your life and keeping all external factors in check.

Your intuition on the other hand, is soft and subtle and light. It whispers to you. Your mind has to be still for it to be heard. When you listen to it you feel uplifted, loved, and free.

You may be listening to an inner voice, but ask yourself which one is it?

If you’re constantly on edge, it’s definitely your fears.

There is a different voice inside, it’s your intuition.

When you hear it whisper to you, when you get a sudden impulse or idea to do something, it’s OK to listen to it. Your intuition is your safest guide. Allow it to guide you. It will never lead you wrong. Allow your intuition to show you the way. It’s safe to do so. ✨💕
Know yourself so deeply that others hurtful words Know yourself so deeply that others hurtful words cannot shake you and what you believe about yourself.

Know yourself so well that you know exactly who you are and what you’re about.

Know yourself so well that you know what’s in your own heart and what your intentions were.

Know yourself so well that if others project negativity upon you, you recognize it’s about what’s inside of them, not you.

Know yourself so well that you’re OK with being misunderstood, because you understand yourself. ❤️

Start to get to know yourself better with my Free Self Love Workbook, available on my blog, see bio. ✨💕
There is nothing wrong with you. You’re not brok There is nothing wrong with you.
You’re not broken beyond repair.
You’re not even broken truthfully.
You’ve just been going in the wrong direction.
You’ve been going away from yourself
Instead of toward yourself.
When you’ve gone too far away from your inner self,
You will feel lost, broken, confused, alone, helpless.
This is not a sign of you’ve done it all wrong, that you’ve messed up, or that you’re messed up.
Take these feelings as an indicator of how far or how close you are to your own self, to your own heart.
When you’re in the vicinity of your own heart, you will feel love, joy, peace, optimism.
When you’re far from it, you will feel the emotions that don’t feel so good.
To get back to a better feeling place,
It’s not about controlling the external circumstances in your life.
It’s about pausing, being still, recognizing where you relatively in terms of your inner self and heart.
Are you listening to your self? Or are you listening to others? Are you being led by your fears? (That’s not your true self) or are you following your heart ? (This is your true self )

Take a few deep breaths, put your hand over your heart, and ask it to show you the way.
Listen closely and pay attention to what drops into your mind at this time, that’s your inner self showing you, guiding you to what’s for you. Even if it doesn’t make complete sense to you in that moment, trust it. Your inner self always knows the way to what’s best for you. And you’ll know you’re on the right track because it will feel good. It will feel so good to follow your heart. And it will feel awful not to.
You’re not broken.
You just have to come back home to your true self and allow it to lead and show you the way.
In order to move past what’s hurting you right n In order to move past what’s hurting you right now, you have to move through it. You have to go within it and see your part in it. Once you accept where you are, it can no longer have a hold over you. Something can only hold you when you are fighting it. When you are no longer fighting it, when you see it for what it really is, that it’s happening for you, so you can change and uplevel, so you can finally release what’s not serving you and become the next level you, you will be free of it. You will see the beauty in the experience, and once you see that, it’s only upwards and onwards. Nothing can stop you.
Accept where you are. Own your part in it. See how it made you grow into a version of yourself you were unwilling to become but had to become anyway. You wanted this growth, you wanted this change. Take it in, and rise.

When we struggle and suffer, we may think it’s b When we struggle and suffer, we may think it’s because of our external world and circumstances, but truthfully it’s the push and pull dynamic that’s occurring inside of us.
When we stray away from our inner self, from our intuition, it hurts. And the more self aware we are, the more we feel this.
You’re not too sensitive, and you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just not listening to yourself and that’s why it’s hard. You can and will feel better when you take a break from your thoughts. When you allow the current moment to take your full attention, and you allow yourself to be present and mindful. Little by little you will hear your inner voice again, because it’s always been there, it never leaves you. It’s you that leaves it.
Little by little, you will start to feel like yourself again, and things will start to get easier and better for you.
Your inner most self is your intuition, and when you give yourself love and quiet out the noise inside and outside of you, you will come back to it, and all of a sudden you won’t feel lost anymore, you will know the way.
