Hi friends! I wanted to share my recent office update with you. Before Christmas last year, I had my desk facing the door, and my console table on the other wall. To make room for my tree, I had tried out the desk in front of my bookcase, and it turned out to be a good spot for it!
I have a 5×7 area rug, and it still looks perfect facing the other direction. All I did was slide the rug over, and my desk went with it :).
My husband suggested I try the console table under the window, which I hadn’t even thought of! I love it there, so that will be its new home for a while. 🙂
This goes to show that if you buy the right pieces, you can move them around, and the room design will still work! Check out my home office checklist for all the right pieces.

I felt like something was missing, so I added my gold letter board, and that made it complete!
I hope you enjoyed the update, and thanks for stopping by! If you have any questions about your own home office design, I would love to hear them :). Just comment below, or send me an email.

Cords?! I would love to turn my desk facing the door but I have double screens on my desk with the laptop. Any ideas? I also need a really good paint color. I have mostly white fixtures in my office and a rustic type credenza with one of those barn doors. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. V

Hi Valerie!
I have seen some desks at Ikea that have built in cord management. They basically have a slot opening in which your cords would slide through. Are your monitors side by side? are they on an angle on either side of the desk? I am trying to picture them and to think of a solution for you. I have seen people hide their cords for a single monitor when the monitor is placed on an angle, on one corner of the desk. The desk has to be large, and you leave some room behind the monitor, and place some dĂ©cor there, like a decorative box with a plant on top. I’m wondering if you got a large desk, maybe one of those executive type, and put your montiors straight ahead of you, side by side (not on angle). Making sure to leave room behind them for some decor (with height). I would try some decorative boxes behind one monitor, and maybe a vase or sculpture to cover the other one. The key is to make it look like intentionally placed decor.
I hope that helps. I will try to write a blog post on this in the near future, I love a good design challenge!
Actually maybe you could send me some pictures of your office right now, and I can help you pick the right paint colour, as well as suggest some decor for hiding your cords? I’ll make a blog post for it 🙂

Hello Gabriella , thank you so much!
My bookshelf was from Ikea, from about 1000 years ago, and they don’t carry it anymore unfortunately:(. However I’ve linked some other beautiful bookshelves in this blog post : https://interiorloveaffair.com/2017/11/6-beautiful-bookshelves-for-your-office/. Let me know if you need any help with your office. I’m here if you do! ?❤️.
