Self Love & Self Care
The 24 Hour Practice That Helps Me Fall Back In Love With My Life – A Playful, Powerful Self Love Practice That Shifts Everything
Hi lovelies,
This is a tool I have used from time to time to get a fresh look at myself and my life. It always results in myself feeling new found appreciation for myself and my life.
Imagine you were a stranger, who just woke up as you in your life today. Spend a whole 24 hours living this way, seeing yourself and your existence through fresh eyes.
Honestly, this is GAME CHANGING.
Sometimes I wonder why I don’t do this more often!
I did this for myself today and truthfully speaking I was in awe of all that I have cultivated and created in my precious little life.
All of this mind you, that I had been unknowingly overlooking, in my quest for more growth and further expansion. Even I am guilty of this from time to time, and this was a nice reminder to be more aware and present with myself, to take more notice of the positive’s in my life (and there are a lot!) and to give myself credit for all the beauty that currently already exists, and is the foundation for how I live.
Some things I had been overlooking:
- the progress I have already made – I am further along then I had let myself think
- all of the love that exists in my world – it’s everywhere!
- the positive habits I have cultivated – I am much more consistent then I had given myself credit for!
- the joy & appreciation I truly do feel for myself already – I am so happy withy myself, and I’m glad I finally get to see that 🙂
- how fortunate I am to
- love the people in my life
- do the work I love to do
- live where I live
- dress, show up, and shine as the person I am
- take part in the hobbies and passions I love so much
- and more
I want you to try this too!
Here’s how:
Find a quiet place to sit, where you won’t be interrupted. Close your eyes and take in a few deep breathes. Breathing slowly, fully, and deeply. Exhale slowly, really allowing each breath to linger. This will get you into a really calm state (which you can use anytime BTW), where visualizing and imagining is easy.
Next, imagine you’ve just awakened at the start of your day, and you’re not you. You’re someone else, anyone else, someone who doesn’t know you or anything about your life, you’re in your body, in your home, in your life, and you are seeing everything with new, fresh eyes.
Waking up in this new bed (ooh the comforter is so comfy), looking around your room (wow the decor!), stepping into your slippers and robe (wow so luxurious!).
Go about your morning routine (still in your mind) and see how wonderful your life really is. Notice how you are so blessed, perhaps you have a coffee machine and an array of beautiful mugs to choose from. Maybe you have a candle to light, curtains to open, and a warm and cozy home to start your day in. Perhaps you see your family members or pet, and marvel at how fortunate you are to have them in your life.
Allow everything to be new and explore it with wonder. Truly see everything as someone who had just traded lives with you or been dropped into your body for 24 hours would see it.
Do this in your mind first, and then actually try this out the same (or next) day.
Don’t forget to look at (with your fresh eyes) your clothes, your furniture, your dishes, your vehicle, your make up, your books, your devices, your neighbourhood, your workplace, your favourite coffee shop, and essentially all of the regular components in your life!
As you go about this day, take note of:
- what you notice,
- how you feel,
- how amazing your life already is,
- how wonderful you already are,
- and the positives that are already so engrained in your daily life and existence that you had been overlooking them simply because they are so unbelievably normal for you, however someone else who was just “dropped into your life” would likely be amazed by or in awe of.
I hope this exercise helps you, it surely does for me. Let me know how you fare with it in the comments!
