You’re out shopping for decor and you can’t decide between 2 (or 3!) pieces. You can’t tell if a light area rug or a dark area rug will suit your space better. Sweat is starting to form on your forehead, and you know you have to make a decision. And these rugs ain’t cheap, so you don’t want to waste your money on something that’s gonna make your space look ugly. Ahh, what to do?!
The struggle is real.
I know, I’ve been there. Sometimes, it’s just damn hard to visualize how something in the store is going to look in your home. Especially if you still have to add in your pillows, throws and other accents.
So what’s a girl to do? Well, just like when you’re shopping for clothes, you’ve got to try it on.
What do i mean try it on? Well, I mean, take that ish home and try it out on your space. If it doesn’t look good, you bring it right back. And don’t feel guilty about that at all!
Designers do this all the time when they are styling a space for a client. They bring in multiple pieces if they are not sure about something, and they only keep the one that looks awesome. And they take back the rest.
So yeah, DON’T feel guilty. You are essentially a designer right now; you are designing your own home, and you deserve to get the right stuff, so your home looks gorgeous.
Don’t stop till you are completely satisfied with your purchases. After all, if you were trying on a new dress, you wouldn’t keep it if you knew it wasn’t flattering on you, and you were never going to wear it, would you? So same goes for any decor, including big, fat area rugs. You keep what you love, you return what you hate. Got it?
Good.
